As John Steinbeck said in Travels with Charlie; “What good is the warmth of summer, without the cold of winter to give it sweetness.” Those words seem particularly true today as New England (and YFI’s hometown of York, Maine) is experiencing yet another snowstorm. However, this does NOT keep us from looking ahead and longing for sunny days, sand and surf. Even if it seems a bit improbable considering the weather, a crew from YFI Custom Homes has been busy working on a new bath house for the Town of York.
The previous bath house was in difficult shape and needed to be razed. This new structure , located on Long Sands Beach in York, is designed to meet current and future needs of the community. As appropriate for its location and the surrounding homes, the bath house has been designed to be New England in character with wood shingles on the exterior. It will meet all flood standards and have all utilities located underground.
The bath house is more than double the size of the previous structure and will have changing rooms and toilet facilities for Men and Ladies’, a designated first aid area, a storage area and an outdoor shower. It will also have one year-round bathroom for visitor and community use.
It is planned to be ready for the 2018 summer season and will be a boon for beachgoers of all ages! To view other YFI projects, please visit our website at yficustomhomes.wpengine.com.
